Rosemary Warner
Rosemary Warner (b. 1950)
Rosemary is a Chicago based artist who employs photography in her image-making, but her work doesn’t fit certain preconceived categories within the photographic medium. Having spent many years as a painter, she often alters her images using toners and bleach after they have been carefully montaged together from several negatives. Her work revolves around the human body and is often printed life-size. Every image is unique, though the same montage of negatives is printed in small editions providing variants of certain prints. After studying fine art, painting, and photography at Indiana University, New York Studio School, and SUNY Empire State College, Warner went on to show her work in numerous group and solo exhibitions in New York, and more recently, in Chicago. She lives and works out of her studio in the near northwest side of Chicago.
